Audi Mosman & Five Dock, Sydney

Audi Terminal FiveDock, Sydney, was the World’s first Audi Terminal of the new architectural design, which was to be rolled out globally. It was a pleasure to execute the lighting design of such a landmark building of the car world.

The Audi architects wished their new Terminals to have a random pattern of lights, doing away with the usual regular grid of spotlights ubiquitous amongst car showrooms. So with Five Dock, Mosman and many other Terminals around Australia, we embraced their vision and produced excellent lighting results for the sales of the cars.

The off centered, seemingly random, grid was placed thus that the luminaires would sit in the most critical positions to highlight the form, detailing and colours of the cars, and add glimmer and sparkle to the beholder’s eye.

The trimless downlights, with the light source regressed above the ceiling line, seamless blend with the sleek curves of the architectural lines, and constrict glare when standing on the mezzanine level.

Lights were placed in a black slot high up within the curvature of the wall to mimic head lights. These also provided lighting to the ceiling creating an additional glow within the terminal, and enhanced the curvature of the interior architecture.
